Romaji Song Titles

Well I'm just going to copy and paste what I commented when I found out the titles were changed.

"Woah, woah, woah. Really, I mean really? I think this is one of those things that should be further discussed amongst the Wikia, reason being as this is supposed to be an English Wikia, with English titles. Most romaji titles are hard to remember especially if the songs translations can be found with the English titles. I mean by changing the titles to English you also ruined the work I went through to get the English titles and translators. It's just not right, if there are English titles availible for songs then we should use them. If anything the romaji (and possibly original Japanese title) should go next to English translations inside some paranthesis, but again, point being this is an English Wikia and these are titles (not names of producers or such, which I understand why they're romanized)."

I saw someone complaining about it on VO too, about Joking Speaker, and I agreed because no-one knows the title by the romaji, it's just harded to find, why not use both but keep the English ones as the page title because they're easier to search for in Google and such?

Yeah the search engine is rather unreliable. :S Only way I can find song pages is through the producer pages or through the Vocaloid song pages.

How exactly does the engine work? Does it just search for any article containing the words specified other than the page with the most specified words?

If your specific, it normally finds it straight away... If your not (I.e. you just type "Lapis" like I did today) it seems to be a bit more random. >_<

It has been better in the past so I've no clue when the formula for searching changed to the mess it is now like.

I can understand the Lapis things but Kimi's example is far from just derp.

I'd suggest having re-directs on the song pages but that might take a while. x:

About the song titles. I think english translation can actually vary, while romaji is just a "different writing" of the original, wherefore I prefer Romaji.

And as Serza said, redirects would pretty much handle everything, wont it? Surely it's much work, but it can be done, actually.

And if we do create e.g. a redirect from "Six Trillion Years and Overnight Story", and then one from "Roku Chounen to Ichiya Monogatari" and eventually even from "六兆年と一夜物語" we could actually name the page to something neutral like "六兆年と一夜物語 (Roku Chounen to Ichiya Monogatari / Six Trillion Years and Overnight Story)" (←this is how it is on the album pages).

And on a side note redirects aren't "ugly" or such. They are really useful and can help managing the wiki.

Song pages are titled "Japanese (Romaji)".
Album pages are titled "Romaji (Japanese)".

Unfortunately it seems like no one else bothers to create redirects.

I'm not saying redirects are ugly (I'm 90% sure that was directed at me), just that linking to a redirect is ugly, sort of. It's more of a pet peeve really.
Example: when linking to GUMI's page use GUMI instead of just GUMI, since GUMI causes a redirect to Gumi at least until I can bribe Bunai to change it to GUMI.

ah eh? so it's already decided how to put the titles? okays as long as romaji are in the title im satisfied wwwww

edit: just to confirm: titles like 衝動×パンデモニクス (with japanese and kana english) should be Shoudou×Pandemonics instead of Shoudou×Pandemonikusu in the brackets shouldn't it?

and yea, if i remember, I might create some redirects [at least for the songs i know of]

btw. is there a reason why song pages and album pages are like the other way around? maybe to not have to write "東京テディベア (Tokyo Teddy bear) (song)" and "東京テディベア (Tokyo Teddy bear) (single)" or is there another reason behind that? o.o

but I wouldn't understand how linking to then is ugly... it actually keeps coding shorter. I mean having a redirect and not using it is kind of a waste [imo].

I THINK SO TOO

Album are titled differently to make it easier to distinguish between song pages and album pages. If a song and album has the same name the song page should still be "Japanese (Romaji) optional: - Song" while the album is "Romaji (Japanese) - Album".

Yep, also like how "人生リセットボタン" is "Jinsei Reset Button" and not "Jinsei Risetto Botan", or how "タイムマシン" is "Time Machine"

I understand why both of you think that, it's just one of the many features on the Wikia that annoys me.

yea that makes sense, thanks. :3

but well. for most people using redirects might still be more convenient, and i think it's kinda random to just say "i dont want them, because they annoy be" without any real reason other than it being a pet peeve .-. and also it looks kinda redundant to me to put GUMI

Again, I know that. I just wanted to explain what I meant by redirects are ugly. If I'm editing a page and see it links to a redirect, I'll probably change it. I understand why'd you think GUMI is redundant, I honestly feel that way too, just that seeing Redirected from GUMI at the top of the page annoys me more.
