So the deadline is reached...

Looking at the message on Galaco, its pretty much over for the non-Japanese speakers who thought they could get Galaco.

http://www.vocaloid.com/news/products/vocaloid3_library_galaco.html

I'm not surprised, but things about Galaco have been unclear from the start. In future contests like Galaco's, things won't be so open and its likely their be sharper on giving out the vocalbanks.

The thing is... From what we know, there wasn't much to her bank anyway. I've yet to hear a song that impressed me. :-/

I regret seeing some of the comments made on that petition-

But reading her page on here there's supposed to be be an announcement by the team who made her before the de-activation of her VB.

There is not telling whether if it will have any effect, although it would be stupid not to participate.

Whenever it gets the 10,000 signatures (assuming it does) I will make an article in the VOCALOID FC, I will also encourage fans to Tweet Kou about this and see if maybe she can help seeing as how much Kou seems to love her VOCALOID.

I think we're best staying out of this... Again trying to keep the vocaloid wikia neutral is better then taking sides. As I just said in another topic, the only sides we take is copypright (because its int he wikia agreement/policy anyway) and on vocaloid promotion.

I myself don't like the idea of supporting galaco just because, while I have favourite vocaloids and admit Galaco isn't one of them, I don't like the idea of one vocaloid pulling favouritism like this... Even for a good cause.  :-/

Plus, look... I've signed petitions like this before, often things are out of peoples' hands and you can't do a thing to change them. Showing support for Galaco helps make the makers notice the support is there, but it doesn't mean they can make it happen. Legal grounds, money, things like this... They can prevent the efforts of the petition having any difference at all. I'm not saying don't sigh it. Nope. I' am saying bare in mind that there may just be nothing anyone can do to save Galaco and be prepared come October for disappointment or joy on the same grounds as each other.

It would be nice to have her kept, but at the end of the day a lot of the reaction to her retirment has just been because no one has ever experienced a event like Galaco before. The closet we have right now is the eventual doom of the 5 original vocaloid vocals, of which if you may notice anyone can currently buy there (as far as I know as I write this) and there seems to be no rush.

Overall... If Galaco was a buyable vocaloid, I don't think she would be one many would pay too much attention to... Her voice is not on the higher end of the quality spectrum amongst vocals and all Galaco's managed to do is bring out the worst of this fandom.  :-/

Being highly limited is already the sign of a vocaloid of questionable quality, why does she need melancholic songs? Because she's bloody flat sounding and one of the most boring vocaloids out there. Some would tell you that her voice provider sings like she's bored most of the time in real life too.

Yes but look at peperon-p's song blue moon  but being limited dosen't make sense if they are going to kill her

Galaco's voice isn't bad at all to be honest. She was just untested and being a prize Vocaloid she never got the chance to be demo debuted properly. I guess people will say anything about something they do not physically have and can fine tune, but I'll tell you the truth. Galaco isn't flat and she's not limited to ballads either, but can do any song assuming the creator/ producer is up to the challange. When you put forth great effort she can actually in some cases surpass other Vocaloids without the use of autotune, because she has a very intricate way in which her syllable and vowels connect. I have been using Galaco for about a year and my growth level with her has increased at an extremely rapid pace so I can say with confidence that she has a lot of untapped potential. As does any Vocaloid! :3

I know this is a very, very, VERY old topic now, but I am SO glad that Galaco still remained as a Vocaloid, except she got a newer voicebank (Of course it's her NEO VB). At least she wasn't killed,  even though they still took down her Prize version of the VB. I just can't stand the thought of a Vocaloid being deactivated, especially since I'm a huge fan of Galaco (thought idk which Vocaloid is my favourite. They're all awesome). Who here is relieved that Galaco hasn't been killed? I am.

I have this funny idea the original voice was an old V2 that never got released so they just used it as a prize. The voicebank has the quality of a V2 in V3. Regardless, without seeing if she had Triphones.

Its not a problem if she was no longer available for use, the English V1 trio, the V2 English vocaloids + Piko, all are unsupported vocals. Every engine looks like its going to have its vocals that won't be passed onto the next.

To be honest, I've said it before, I don't get the hype over this voice as it fell into the category "common voice type" and there was never anything really special about the voice to earn the following it did. A lot of it, and I stand by it, was purely because she was exclusive. Those who've come along since the actualy release, I feel are more honest fan followers of her. I say this because once she got sold for real, a lot of people simply have "forgotten" her, including those who had interest in her while she was exclusive.

My other issue with Galaco's prize version was it showed how selfish and greedy some western fans could be. Along with Rana ("I own one copy of her magazine, I own her!" or "I own every copy but don't live within Japan, I own her!"), its not our best reaction to a new vocaloid. In fact, conditional vocals general show up how childish overseas fans could be.
