Rules for adding "new Vocaloids" to the wikia

Hit my final straw with translators with our recently added page, and now disappeared page, Kamui the cat-girl.

Look guys... I had doubt from begining and said I found no evidence of her being a vocaloid. Then someone found evidence... Except it appears to be a HECK OF A MISTRANSLATION, one that now is circling the fandom, part in owed to my blunder of adding them. But I'm not alone, I added hder because people told me they found a translation that said she was official, and I was convinced by everyone...

Despite this, in the past few days I doubted a lot of the things around her. I couldn't find the MMB blog entry on her, turns out I wasn't looking far enough into April to find the entry. Finally found it and now I'm miffed with this and I'm calling this the final verdict on adding "Vocaloids" top the wikia.

True she may turn out to be a vocaloid, as even though MMB cited there was no source to prove she was vocaloid related, as with Meaw there is always some *debate* on such details. We kinda don't always get the full picture on vocaloid development. So we cannot say that 100% with definite she won't be a vocaloid, especially as KEI is cited as the illustrator here (though even he is not without humour).

So I'm finally going to do it, I'm proposing we get something into place here.

I don't think its imposible to prevent the indefinate entry of fakes anyway, but at least getting some sort of rules and guidelines in place will help us establish *when* a vocaloid should get a page.

Some ideas;

  1. You may add a Vocaloid page wif the vocaloid is announced on an official twitter, website, etc, that was created by existing studios.
  2. You may not add characters whose studios are not known, or are fake companies.
  3. Potential Vocaloids don't deserve a page until they actually become vocaloids.
  4. If there is no source on a vocaloid to be had beyond a translation into English, don't rush to add it or call it a vocaloid.

Edit: Also I think its time we finally addressed the Meaw page in light of this. Its never been flat out stated and I've had a grudge against unofficially declared projects not being flat out stated "its a vocaloid!".

Can I just give my 2 cents on the matter.

My experience with the community was only of VO's and its community pretty much couldn't be bothering to improve the wiki pages, so really... I had to just plough in and if they didn't like it, tough, I asked for 4-6 months and they didn't lift a finger.  :-/

And this is what the situation the long term editors face. I mean even we don't always get on with each other (me and Bunai have had a few quarrels), but we've had to work with literally no feed back since June/July 2010. Whenever we asked for it, we get little or nothing. Hell... Look at this topic... Its about creating some guidelines to prevent unnecessary pages being created... and while I see a lot of arguments, references to recent conflicts... No one is actually preposing any changes to the original points and rewriting them so their improved. I've seen objections, yeah... But without suggestions to improve things all we're doing is arguing.

The OP isn't a set in stone rules, I'm here explaining I've had enough of adding characters only to turn out their not vocaloids. I explained my own mistakes I made and just proposed some rules so everyone knows where they stand on things.

Unfortunately I didn't see Zunko coming when I proposed them and she was just the first character to be effected by it... Yeah Kamui was the cause of it, mostly because at a time theres a plan being drawn up to permanently tackle the non-Vocaloid stuff she was unwelcomed... but Zunko had to face the new rules and instead of someong saying, "hey look, Zunko's a victim here can I suggest a tweak" it became a "us versus them" situation.

The problem was that Zunko was not yet a vocaloid, at the most we could mention her on is Status and vocaloid3... At the end of the day, Zunko's only issue was she wasn't yet a vocaloid... For what it was worth arguing about, she hit her goal which we all knew she would so it was just a case of 'when' and not 'why' she should get a page. :-/

Onto the two vocals I pointed out didn't have a page and how they relate to the current situation.

I'll state it again, there are 3 basic aims of the wikia;

  • To promote all vocaloids
  • To help improve information
  • To fight bias

Okay word for word this has changed but the 3 core aims have been the same; promote vocaloid, improve information, fight bias... This topic touches two of those 3 goals directly "vocaloid and information".

Even with the past problems, the two new pages I've asked for comply with the proposed rules so you shouldn't have to wait to create them and I shouldn't have to had asked for someone to get on the matter (I aim busy with the VB improvements remember, which I hope to finish today). The thing about rules is they need to be clear and once its established what we can and can't do, there should be no reason to beg or ask in future.

Rules make thing sfair and point people in the right direction so they don't have to ask 1,000+ questions before editing. If their not clear, they need changing, if there is a issue you guys need to make a bigger voice.

Xeyuzio wrote: Yeah, but people are scared to recreate the topics because of what happened in the last one and no-one wants to argue it anymore because you guys don't listen. And I made that page to discuss Zunko's pages. That's what people were doing, the issue was only solved by time, not the Wikia and people wanted to prevent another situation like that from happening in the future and it got closed so we couldn't.

Okay, but that Admin interpreted the situation as the subject being complete when the page was complete.

If you (or anyone) wanted it reopened or you felt it was closed unfairly just contact someone to review it.

I would reopen it and move it to General if I knew that is what people wanted and that it would indeed be used to discuss the subject of the page.

Just leaving a note, while everyone does the thought process of "will I make a page or not", its confirmed the game is backed by vocaloid. Whether or not it makes the girls "vocaloids" is another thing, but for now they've been added to Vocaloid (mascot).

I don't know how we're going to handle them, but we also need the page Project 575 set up while we're at it.

I beleive Project 575 was up on Sandbox mode due to people argueing about what would go in it. I do beleive it's near enough time the page goes live though :S

We have confirmation which alone is enough a page... at that point when its confirmed without doubt a vocaloid product a page needs to be set up even if its not perfect (we'll fix it up over time). Once confirmation is established, all you need is a name for a page.

Don't forget to add them somewhere also on the main page, as I suggested its best they go with Ukei and Akikoloids...

Anri Rune, the hostess of Fuji TV, is apparently having a Vocaloid debut.

Here's what we have on her:

Name

Demo

Design (in 3D within the PV of the demo, no offical art yet)

Studio

- But it's only the beginnings so far, and we haven't had any major translations yet, as far as I am aware. I was wondering where/if she should go places or have a page.

If the Vocaloid part is firm then i'd get the page up running ASAP even with the lack of translation.

She can be put on 'status' at least...
