I'm not really big on the lyrics pages, I stopped making them a long time ago. If a song is significant in some way, and has a decent amount of information/background, then I'd be fine with it, but a large part of the songs on the wiki have little to no background at all.
If, by chance, these song pages w/o backgrounds were removed, then it wouldn't make much of a difference to me. Lyrics can be hosted and posted almost anywhere, after all, and they're relatively easy to find with just a Google search away. It's the background/song history/trivia that keeps me engaged when I'm viewing song pages. It would be great if these pages could remain on the wiki.
I'm also like the derivatives section on song pages too. If the song itself doesn't have much bg about it, then maybe its impact in spawning derivatives and covers can be discussed?
I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't mind that much if lyrics were removed completely. Even if sexually-explicit lyrics were removed, wouldn't it still be fine if only the impact/controversy was covered? (Of course, without referencing any of the lyrical content.)
Also, there's already a dedicated Vocaloid Lyrics Wiki that focus more on the lyrics rather than the song history. I don't really see the point of having two identical song pages at once...
And we have VocaDB as part of the supported external links. VocaDB supports lyric posting, so we can always direct users over there if they want the lyrics for the R-18 stuff.
Hey, so I added the File:Lovedroid.png to the candidates for deletion category because it is a screencap of a reprint PV that is not a true reprint of the actual video.
This was the reprint that was originally referenced in the article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvzviqzc6Vo It uses File:Lovedroid.png
A better reprint would be http://youtu.be/1OI1BAxLIEs which I have changed in the LoveDroid article. I'm going to upload a better image taken from mathru's website because I can't really get a clear screencap from the NND video. If someone is able to get a better pic, then that would be great, but in any case I really think File:Lovedroid.png needs to be removed.
I never really was interested in Gahata Meiji. I understand why people like her though. I've listened to a couple of songs with her, and she really is a high-quality voicebank. It's just...eh, she didn't click with me very well. I'm not exactly sure why.
I keep going back to Yuutsukoe Karasu, though. His voice just gives me UTAU feels.
@Olliefar, Oh, Denuta Sen sounds lovely!
Hmm, okay. I guess that was an actual person who posted on my talk page. Still don't understand why they called me Cyndi...
Amane Akemi sounds pretty good.
I googled 'Amane Akemi', and there seems to be some instances of that name usage, but they all seem pretty vague and minor. It doesn't seem like it's used much (or at all) in the UTAU fandom.
So I guess, if you want to name your persona "Amane Akemi", I'd say go for it!
("if Muzai, Amane, or Amane Muzai have already been used on a UTAU, popular or not, would it still be okay to use one or both of their names?" Sharing a first name is very common, so in the future you shouldn't worry about it that much. :) Last names are a bit trickier because it depends on the name, but it usually shouldn't be much of a problem. (There's Namine Ritsu, and Namine Tsux, for example) Avoiding the use of rare last names is what I would suggest.
I've actually witnessed at one point a video where there were two different utaus with the same name. I believe the reaction was similar to "Oh, cool, what a neat coincidence, our utaus have the same name, let's duet them together." or something like that. That was just one single incident of it though; I don't know if the reaction is as lax in other incidents.
To be honest, I think it's pretty rare to make a 'name twin' by accident. If you ever do end up making a 'name twin' by accident, try to differentiate your character from the other person's as much as you can (e.g. "This character is not associated with OtherCreator's character."))
Hmm, I think that's about all I have to say for now. Well, good luck with your singing persona, Anon!
I just finished working on a graphic design assignment for 10 hours straight. I got it done, and I don't have class tomorrow, which is great, but...
Need to sleep. Need to sleep.
Goodnight.
To answer your question, there are currently no official Vocaloids with the name Amane, Muzai, or Amane Muzai. I can't say the same for other characters/UTAUs, though.
Amane is a fairly used name. I honestly think it's alright if you use the name of Amane. But Muzai on the other hand is not as used so much as a name. (I would actually recommend spelling out Muzai in katakana rather than kanji...? But that's just my recommendation.)
But like Dizzyzebra said, it's more like an Vocaloid oc that you're trying to make to represent yourself, which I think is perfectly fine. But if you use the term of "Vocaloid", that might confuse people a bit since you're not actually going to use the Vocaloid software. Perhaps you could use the term Humanloid, or even better, an utaite. Both types of singers usually utilize some sort of avatar. While utaites generally do a lot of cover songs, a lot of them also sing original songs of their own, so that might be a good fit for you.
There are actually two contests currently going on! ovo There's a lyrics competition and a guitar competition.
Lyrics Competition: (Ends January 18th, 2015) https://www.facebook.com/notes/ia-world-page/ia-special-3rd-year-anniversary-song-lyric-competition-/1675715809321622
Guitar Competition: (Ends March 31st, 2015) https://www.facebook.com/notes/1675254849367718/
No, my lyrics are in english. Japanese lyrics are preferred, though, so I don't expect to win. I just wanted to participate in the contest.
I decided I wanted to try entering that lyrics contest for IA's third anniversary. Hmm, but it's a bit difficult. I'm still stuck on the first stanza. Well, my lyrics will be in English so I don't really expect to win, but it'd be nice practice. Also, if I don't win, I might be able to use my lyrics for some other original song, maybe.
But ahhh, the theme is "Gratitude", and that's stumping me. Should I write a thank you song to IA users/fans or maybe a general instance in everyday life? Either way, my mind's telling me to vague-ify it, but I don't really want to make my lyrics vague. Aughh...
It's okay if you don't know all the UTAUloids. That'd be a pretty impossible feat since a large portion of the UTAUloids are (or will be) relatively unknown.
And yes, Teto can "sound bad" if used "incorrectly". For example, just plugging in a UST and simply rendering it without further editing may give bad results. (USTs aren't exactly 'one size fits all'. )
Teto, like many UTAUloids, can sound quite robotic if her voice isn't edited. Some people may like that aspect of UTAU, but then others won't. It's more of a matter of taste.
Personally, I really like how others work hard to remove the robotic element in UTAU voices. I also respect those that make UTAU voices since the whole process of making one is rather time-consuming.
I was a bit surprised that you included VY1 in there, considering she officially has no gender (and her lack of a humanoid body), but okay.
I'm a bit ambivalent towards Vocaloid designs, but I chose Yan He.
Are there any specific types of voices you're looking for?
Sonone Linako is a really nice, smooth voicebank. Also, her power voicebank is just mmm, delicious.
Matsudappoiyo has a cool voice as well. Other nice voicebanks that pop in my mind are Scribble-chan, Takoe Zuii, and Mine Laru. I like Ryan Moriyama's Whisper voicebank, not sure about his regular voicebank though.
(edit: Ah..I should've put demonstration links, shouldn't have I?)
Anyways, two more voicebanks:
On the other hand, SBS had SeeU English in mind, not even thinking about an SV02
(oops, I meant to type *Korean Vocaloid developer rather than Korean Vocaloid producer, but anyways...)
Actually, because SeeU;English hadn't had an update in a long while, I had almost given up on her voicebank. Just rechecked her article and it's good that SeeU;English is still on their minds, though.
Wasn't really expecting a SV02 either, just a bit concerned how it seemed like SBS Artech dropped out of the Vocaloid world after SeeU's release. They've been extremely quiet lately and I haven't heard about them in awhile. (Though seeing as this poll relates to "new Vocaloids", a SV02 wouldn't hurt, either)
@Musicnote98 I think SeeU was a bit husky to start with, so I'm not sure what "unique" vocal they'd choose next, if they ever do a new vocal. A male Korean Vocaloid, though, woooo...
I was also torn between Ki/oon Records and SBS Artech, but I chose SBS Artech, they seem a lot more friendly towards users and they're also the only Korean Vocaloid producer at the moment. Despite entering the Vocaloid world later than SBS Artech, VOCALOID CHINA has produced two Chinese Vocaloids while SBS Artech still only has one and that's just a bit worrying to me for some reason.
FaeriMagic wrote: But I wouldn't ask for one, because Vocaloid isn't "practical" enough, and I'm supposed to have more "important" things to do, according to my family.
Hmm...that might be a possibility! OuO
Actually, I have asked for a Vocaloid before, like for a birthday gift or something similar to that. My wishes have always been dismissed as "unnecessary", so I don't think I'll get any better results if I try to ask again. D: Well, in the meantime, I can make do with UTAU...
