History
Edit
Her voice is taken from recordings of an actual elementary school student. However, the name of the one who offered the voice for Yuki is still unknown.[3]
She has three demos released, "±", "Vocaloid Grade School Student", and "Try again".
Vocaloid 3; starter pack
Edit
AH-Software is releasing their Vocaloid 2 era Vocaloids with Vocaloid 3 starter packs. However, there have been no updates for the 4 voicebanks and although they are sold with Vocaloid 3 they are all still Vocaloid 2 voicebanks.
Marketing
Edit
She is meant to be portrayed as an elementary school student, officially she is a student of Hiyama Kiyoteru and what is in her red randoseru is a motif of Yamaha's wind controller, WX5.
Until May 2011, all Ah-software Vocaloids were banned from Karen-T.

Strengths
Edit
Yuki and Hiyoteru were designed to be Voclaoids that had human-esque traits about them. Yuki is designed to sing childrens songs and has an innocent, soft and cute voice.[4] Her child-like voice makes her unique amongst the Vocaloid 2 voicebanks and allows for a soft, sweet style of song. She was the youngest sounding vocal released during the Vocaloid 2 era.[5]
Since she has a breathy voice and strong consonant sounds, her Japanese sounds very natural. She tends to be one of the more relaisitc vocals of the Vocaloid2 era. Her voicebank has a reputation for being able use its Japanese phonetics to mimick the English language easier than most other Japanese voicebanks.
Weaknesses
Edit
Because of her vocal properties, Yuki cannot sing like a professional singer as she is intended to sound like an amateur. The most major issue is that she has very soft vocals because she is a child vocal, this can affect her higher notes and pronounications. Some users say the beginning consonant sounds get shorter as well as with other AH-S vocaloids.[6]
Demo
Edit
A 14 trial version of the Vocaloid 2 engine for this Vocaloid was made able to be downloaded in March 2012 from Ah Softwares website. This does not allow .VSQ saving but .Wav files can be saved.[7]

Popularity
Edit
The three Ah Software Vocaloids were slow to gain popularity and for a while were amongst the least popular Vocaloids. Kaai Yuki was the second noted in 2010 as the second most popular of the trio.[8]
A independant Vocaloid search on Nico Nico Douga revealed that most Vocaloids had less then 1,000 videos uploaded on Nico Nico Douga in between July 1 and December 15 2011 with Yuki falling into that category as well.[9]
Trivia
Edit
- Yuki and Kiyoteru's announcement came in November 2009. Interestingly enough, at the end of the previous month Crypton Future Media had just made their own announcement of a series called Project if… which was set in a elementry school setting.[10]
