Piko (ピコ) is a Japanese male singer and the voice provider for the Vocaloid2, Utatane Piko. He was born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan on March 11th, 1988. His earliest known involvement with music was as an amateur vocalist when he was a high school student, and with his mother's advice, Piko posted a vocaloid fandub song on Nicovideo and the song received fame. In September 2009, he made his debut as an independent singer, and this led to the contract with Ki/oon Records (read as "kyuun records"), a subsidiary company of Sony Music Entertainment Inc. in March, 2010. His artist name, Piko, is the namesake of a pet dog he had.

TriviaEdit

  • In Japan, he is known as 両声類 Ryouseirui, an artificial word from the word of the same pronunciation 両生類 (amphibian) and meaning "both-vocals-species". This is because he has the ability of producing both masculine and feminine vocal tones.
  • His logo is ピω゚コ, where the katakana ピコ (Piko) are included. His logo is similar to Sekihan's.
  • PIKO often uses a handdrawn mouse named Pikochu, with the following face as his trademark image, ピω゚コ. This mouse can be seen as a representation of PIKO in several of his NicoNicoDouga song covers. He has many plush toys, puppets, and, oversized pillows in the likeness of his trademark mascot.
  • The official English romanization is "PIKO". As stated in an entry in his blog.
  • He says his favourite anime character is K-ON!'s Hirasawa Ui on the NND Live broadcast on 12.18.2010. (The source broadcast, with Piko and his band members, can be viewed here with NND premium membership for the next 7 days).
  • He is often known for singing with Sekihan, his "friend" and another Nico Nico singer.
  • Sekihan and Piko occasionally add comedy into their covers.
  • Piko has 5 major singles; Story, Wasurenagusa, Sakurane, Yumehana, and Emiiro Refrain.

  • I LOVE THIS GUY! HE ROCKS! AND SO DOES PIKO UTANANE! question, why do people often mistake Piko for a chick? Not sure anyone is gonna reply to this but we can hope.

    • Because... when you look at his PVs and find him in long shirt, tights, and kimonos, while all you can hear is high pitched voice (he more often use it than his low voice, which I quite liked), there's no way you wouldn't think of him as a girl...

'Story' is quite neutral however. He looks somewhat mannish. 'Emiiro refrain' however...

    • Thank you. But look at him. Shouldnt the chest just give you a hint saying his a boy? I don't mean this in a perverse way just saying

    • Uhm, yeah... he's more often than not wear long and oversized shirt, with scarf... That combination tends to create illusion that he has... those.

And in some, he even use make up. Watch his PVs. Wasurenagusa and Emiiro Refrain. You'll see what I mean. Oh, and look at his pictures in magazines. I found quite a lot in tumblr. I swear, he looks absolutely pretty...

    • I can't find vocaloid magazines from where I am. :( The best i can get here is manga. Although i must say that Piko shares and has the same hairstyle as is voice provider no?

Why buy when many are willing to post it online? Just search tumblr. You'll stumble upon it sooner than later.

No, there's no such thing as vocaloid magazine. What I meant was usual fashion magazine... from Japan. He's quite often featured there. Just look it up. You'll be amazed seeing how pretty he can be.

    • Thank you! That helped a bunch!
