Commercial License ReleasesEdit

The most common seen Vocaloids are the commercially sold units produced by 3rd party studios. These Vocaloids are produced under license by Yamaha and are able to be bought by any bidding Producers through various commercial outlets. Their quality and capabilities vary, as do the licensing agreements for use issued by the respected studios involved.

New vocalsEdit

Vocaloid voicebanks known to be in production. Their status and licensing is unknown but most are presumed to be commercial licenses.

It takes approximately 4 hours in total for a Japanese Vocaloid to be recorded. An English Vocaloid can take from a week to over a month to record all its samples. Pieced together with more than 4 months of tuning and assembling the software together, as well as the possibility of a second set of recordings being made for better sample selection, a Vocaloid may take anything from 6 months to over 2 years to complete.

Furthermore, until word is given, Vocaloids cannot be talked about by staff or their vocal providers.^[2] This is due to legal grounds and therefore fans will have to be aware of this and respect the process involved in making just one of any of the Vocaloids.

Zero-G Ltd.	In development ???; had announced a male and female vocal pair at the Vocaloid 3 pre-releases, while the female has been released, development of the male will not begin until at least 2013.
VocaNext	In development Ring Suzune; Release slow and date is currently unknown Vocanext are a small group and progress is slow in developing the vocal for this reason. Lui Hibiki;Seems to be delayed for the same reason as Ring.
I-Style Project	In development Merli; They held a competition to find a voice provider for her. Competition ended November 30th, 2012.
Yamaha/Bplats, Inc.	In development ???;have confirmed male VY voicebank in English, the confirmation came in an interview after VY2's release.[3] ???;have confirmed female VY voicebank in English, the confirmation came in an interview after VY2's release.[4] ZOLA PROJECT; have a 10th anniversary vocaloid due for release in 2013.[5] The project is confirmed to be 3 vocals designed for chorus. These vocals will be released as a limited/special edition library.[6]
PowerFX/VocaTone	In development Currently running tests with various vocalists for the next VocaTone project. Anders later confirmed their working on a new Vocaloid "(or 2...)".[7] VocaTone confirmed that they are working a another vocal right now and that it is expected next year (2013).[8] YOHIOloid ; It has since been confirmed they are producing a English/Japanese Vocaloid using the voice of Swedish singer YOHIO, who later confirmed this on his twitter account. More details to come.[9][10] ???; PowerFX has also confirmed their following vocaloid will be American. This vocal was actually supposed to be produced next after Oliver, however Yohio's capabilities in language presented a opportunity and the voice has been delayed. Production of this vocaloid will resume as soon as Yohio's vocaloid has completed its development.[11] The gender was confirmed male. A member of VocaTone also confirmed they had concept art and a voice provider selected for their next Vocaloid.[12]
???	In development ???; A boy Vocaloid which had begun recording and was expected for release in summer 2012.[13]
Voctro Labs	In development ???; Spanish Female Vocaloid. The voicebank was used in PlanB, in collaboration with  La Oreja de Van Gogh.[14] This voice also was shown in an interview in the TV program, Generació Digital.[15] On the 31st of January, Voctro Labs announced on their Facebook page that they would release the Vocaloid to the public, but cannot yet announce the date.[16]
Crypton Future Media	In development Meiko V3; Confirmed to contain a "normal" voice and "English", other vocals awaiting confirmation. Hatsune Miku V3; Update on Vocaloid2 version. Hatsune Miku Append V3; Update on Vocaloid2 Version. English version also in developement, but unknown if this will be sold with other packages Kagamine Rin/Len V3; Update on vocaloid2 version. Internet Co., Ltd.	In development V3 Gachapoid; is expecting an update but no announcements have been made since this was announced in the early Vocaloid 3 promotions and it is unclear on the status of this as of this point.
SBS Artech	In development SeeU - English; was expected to be released in 2012. Recording for herEnglish voicebank was confirmed to be finished in August 2012 and SBS reported that the voicebank will go through a tuning process.[17]However, on Feburary 4th 2013, in response to a Korean fan's question about the pregoress of English Voicebank, SBS posted a reply that the development of English Voicebank is currently on hold. Reasons for this are currently unknown.[18]
Shanghai He Nian	In development Luo Tianyi - Japanese; has a Japanese voicebank that was originally planned for an October release but seems to have been delayed. The voicebank was recorded before her Chinese one was released. ???: A new vocal is due for release and once again a design contest is being held to pick the new design for the character. This vocaloid will not reuse previous contest designs. The vocal itself is reported as almost complete in production.[19][20]
AH Software???	In development ???: Confirmed developing a native English Vocaloid (gender unknown) that they wish to release.[21]] note; due to the way this was reported, the studio may be wrong

Trial VersionsEdit

Trial versions of voicebanks are often released to act as a method of users testing to see if they like the vocal. Trial versions tend to have restrictions such as limited day usage or limited functions. Often they have other issues with them, such as they are made from beta versions of the software. Producers making demos might also be issues Beta versions of pre-released Vocaloids or even the full version of the software.

This section contains those that were made able to be accessed by the general public, in many cases, the demo is only given out for a limited amount of time or issued on a limited number with a magazine or other means. All other pre-released versions or unreleased versions are listed elsewhere in the "Restricted Access" section. On occusion, a Vocaloid may also come with demo versions of other vocaloids made by the same studio which may or may not be declared prior to purchase, in this case they may be absent from this page because of the difficulty in confirming them.

Ring Suzune'	a beta version of Ring Suzune's voicebank was offered to the participants of "Vocaloid Network", a small-scale fan event scheduled on March 11, 2012. As the number of fan groups which participated the event was only 19, it is considered that only a small number of people received the beta copy, though it was sent to all those interested. Retired VoicebanksEdit

Vocaloid voicebanks that were once able to be bought commercially that have now been removed from sale or will be removed in the near future. Vocals who have seen retirement may continue to be sold for some time after their initial retirement, however, they are on limited supply and will sell only while the stocks last. Their usage is limited only to those who have been able access to these vocals before or since their retirement and no new stock has been released containing their vocals.

Please note the Vocaloid and Vocaloid2 engines are unsupported entirely. Vocaloid will retire "in the near future", when Yamaha signals to the studios involved to retire them from sale. Vocaloid2 vocals will remain on sale, as their vocals can be used in Vocaloid3

Yamaha/Bplats	Vocaloid2 VY1 was retired upon the release of VY1v3. VY2 was retired upon the release of VY2v3.[24]
Internet co., Ltd	Vocaloid2 Megpoid of Vocaloid 2 has been semi-retired prior to March 15th, 2012 and has been replaced with V3 Megpoid - Native for Vocaloid 3. Lily is now retired and has been replaced with Vocaloid 3 V3 Lily voicebank. Gackpoid is now retired and has been replaced with Vocaloid3 V3 Gackpoid voicebank. Gachapoid is yet to be replaced with Vocaloid 3 version

In March 2013, several Vocaloid3 products were announced as being retired from the Vocaloid on-line shop. These included the Vocaloid 3 engine itself, VY1v3, VY2v3, Tone Rion, Aoki Lapis and Mew. They were replaced with a "SE" version (Second Edition) will the most up to date version of the Vocaloid 3 engine available, plus 3 new plug-ins there were also able to be downloaded from the Vocaloid shop. Aside from this, there were no additional differences between the products and users with the older version did not need to purchase the new "SE" product.^[25]

Private LicensesEdit

Private voicebanks are created under license for non-commercial use. Private vocals are much harder to confirm then commercially released vocals and their progress impossible to determine, however, they are becoming more and more common. The voicebanks in the section are listed as to which era of development for the Vocaloid engine they appeared in. Unlike commerically released vocals, private vocals are only allowed to be used by producers who have given permission to create songs for use by the license holders, and are hired by the license holders.

There were no known private licenses released during Vocaloid. However, the original intention of the engine was to be released only as a private licensed product, this did not happen because Crypton Future Media were able to convince Yamaha it was more beneficial to release it as a commercial product. Therefore, this kind of licensing was considered for the software right from the start.

During the Vocaloid 2 era of development, it became known that Yamaha began to test the waters to see if it was profitable to create Vocaloids for private use and began to develop Vocaloid-flex as a mean to allow for Vocaloid to extend its capabilities away from just singing. A number of vocals were used in the Vocaloid 2 era, take note this does not mean they were using the Vocaloid 2 software. Since Vocaloid 3, Yamaha sought to make the licensing of such vocals more widely used. A number of vocals were used in the Vocaloid 3 era, take note this does not mean they were using the Vocaloid 3 software.

????	A Vocaloid-flex voicebank was used in the game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. This was the first private license of Vocaloid known to have been announced commercially. Due to popular misconceptions, its name was believed to be "ZEKE", however it actually remains nameless.
Akikoloid-chan	LAWSON convenience store chain's mascot, "Akiko-chan" received a makeover and synthesized voice on the Vocaloid 3 engine to become "Akikoloid-chan," who acts a navigator for LAWSON's Nico Nico Douga channel. Commissioned albums using her voice have been granted. It is unknown if this vocal will ever be released.
Ueki-loid	Older Male Vocaloid, Ueki-Loid is the first attempt to resurrect a dead singer and has the voice of the late singer Hitoshi Ueki. It has been stated that this vocal will never be released commercially. Ueki-loid was made to demonstrate the capabilities of the Vocaloid software. He is now Vocaloid 3. Also, his creation marks the start of a new series of Vocals called "Legend of Vocaloid".

Exclusives/LimitedEdit

Since Vocaloid 3, a new type of release has also appeared, this being exclusive/Limited vocals. These are given out in limited numbers or in exclusive events as prizes and are not for sale. Therefore they have a limited number of ways to obtain them.

Galaco

She was offered as a prize in the Vocaloid music contest held by the Vocaloid shop. Anyone who gets 1,000+ views on Nico Nico Douga with an entry in the contest will be able to get this Vocaloid for free.[26][27][28] However, usage of Galaco was not intended to be permanent and users wanting to keep her up were forced to keep extended her expiratory date. Users were unable to gain her voice after the 31st December 2012, her code expired on the 31st Jan 2013. Any code obtained for an extension expires on April 31st of 2013. She was bound to the account of each individual and therefore re-sale is not possible.

Misc. Unreleased/CancelledEdit

The following is a list of known, but unreleased Vocaloid voicebanks that were once intended for commercial release. These vocals managed to reach a status where they could be released commercially and their use commercially has been witnessed, however, for one reason or another were never released. Some producers may have access to these vocals as they were given the voicebanks by the Vocaloid studio to use with permission. This list does not include beta stage voicebanks (such as CV-4Cβ) or unnamed known delayed projects (such as Project If...).

PowerFX	Vocaloid 2 Big Al - Big Al's original voicebank was not released and was replaced. The original voicebank had a quality related issue, but the provider was unable to complete a recording session to improve results and therefore a new provider had to be found.
Crypton Future Media	Vocaloid 2 Meiko Append Vocaloid2 - Featured in Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai but did not meet the Vocaloid2 era deadline. Is being released for Vocaloid3 Kaito Append Vocaloid2 - Also featured in the same game, like Meiko's Vocaloid2 it failed to meet the deadline for the Vocaloid2 retirement. Now being released for Vocaloid3 Also, it was reported that voicebanks "Mellow", "Serious", "Solid" and "Sweet" were recorded, as well as a couple of others bringing the total of voicebanks for Kaito up to 6, however it is known two of the vocals were dropped from the package all together. "Vivid", "Power" and "Solid" are also named as other recorded vocals done with a new digital mic; nothing has been said on these vocals either. Much has changed in the production process in regards to Kaito's product and Crypton does not mention everything in regards to this issue. Megurine Luka Append - Generally believed this was delayed because of Vocaloid 2's retirement from sale. A few witnesses to a Vocaloid2 version of the package in commerical use have been noted. Male vocal - Originally known as CV04, this Vocaloid was originally destined for Vocaloid 2 but after Crypton Future Media got caught up in Hatsune Miku's plans, he ended up delaying the release of new vocals. His vocal will be released in Vocaloid 3. There is little known about the status of the Vocaloid 2 vocal and how far it was in production. Hatsune Miku (English) Vocaloid2 - Miku's English voicebank had not yet begun production, so it is unknown if a Vocaloid2 voicebank was made. The note of her voicebank here is because it was questioned by Crypton if they would end up releasing a Vocaloid2 or Vocaloid3 version. Thus we can note that there was the possibility of a Vocaloid2 aimed for consideration originally, even if it was never produced. Miku also has a "falsetto" voice which has never been released (engine unknown). This was recorded as a sort of 7th Append, its existence was made known in December 2010. The reason for its lack of release is that it was felt releasing it as a independent vocal would be useless.
Internet Co., Ltd.	Vocaloid2 Megpoid Extend - never made the Vocaloid 2 deadline, was released as part of the V3 Megpoid product instead. It is generally unknown how far in the project Internet Co., Ltd got before the transfer from V2 to V3 began or if the Vocaloid 2 voicebank was ever completed.

PrototypesEdit

These vocals exist but are only prototypes and usually, but not always, listed with a "β" ("beta") on their name. There is no indication they were ever meant to be commercial products.

CV-4Cβ	was another voicebank from Crypton Future Media that used Vocaloid-flex.
????	A proto-type male Catalan voicebank done by the MTG was featured in a technology demonstration.
Project if…	was a experimental voicebank project by Crypton future media with several voicebanks known and was a experimental project aimed at a elementary school setting. The series mostly comprised of child vocals but at least 1 adult was known. This project was to follow the Character Vocal series but has not been mentioned since late 2010. Only prototype vocals have been seen so far. At NYCCon 2012, it was confirmed the focus is updating and creating English versions of current Vocals leaving this project with no further news. Junger März PROTOTYPE β, a child vocal is the most notable of these voicebanks.

Company	Details
PowerFX and Zero-G	Anders confirmed that if English Vocaloids become more popular, Zero-G and PowerFX will consider making Appends for their Vocaloids. Also, Anders confirmed if there is demand updates for all past Zero-G and PowerFX Vocaloids to newer engines, it is a possibility. The major factor in this though is the workload needed and involvement in the process against the demand. PowerFX have also recently confirmed they want to do a V3 Sweet Ann, but due to focus on their soundation product, and pulling together money for update, they currently cannot produce this voicebank.
Crypton Future Media	Crypton has hinted at possible future Vocaloids built purposely for English only as well as future Bilingual Vocaloids. Crypton Future Media is also trying to find effective methods of adding English voicebanks to Megurine Luka Append. They have also hinted that while they have no plans currently, they may produce a Hatsune Miku English Append if circumstances allow it to occur. Crypton have expressed desire to create more Append vocals for existing Vocaloids at some point in the future. These vocals will be even more expressive then current released Appends. For example; "dark Sweet, warm Sweet, Weak Sweet"[29]. There are at least two known Hatsune Miku extra vocals that Crypton have planned, one of which was recorded (Falsetto) and several for Kaito. Whether or not these will ever be released is unknown.
Internet Co. Ltd	Although English Megpoid is been released, yet so far there is no news from Internet Co. Ltd about releasing English Gackpoid, English Gachapoid, and English Lily.[30]

Awaiting Further ConfirmationEdit

The following are possible upcoming voicebanks that are not yet clarified or vocal developements which are announced but no update is made in over 6 months;

• Meaw were previously introduced as "Virtual Divas" with no other information confirming a connection between them and Vocaloid beyond the tags on various websites. Those working with them claim they are Vocaloids, so it is likely at this point they are private licenses. However, more complex details have yet to be confirmed and their Vocaloid status is still up for debate. Meaw have not made an appearance since the start of Vocaloid 3 leaving elements of details unanswered at the moment.
  • No news on this pair have been mentioned since their intial release and they have been moved into this section until further announcements confirm they are still in progress.
• MOEJAPAN has introduced the concept of a “Vocaloid you can meet”, the “fusion of a 2D Vocaloid and a 3D idol”: Vocaloidol. “Real” idols from two agencies, MOGRA and Dear Stage, will provide their voices to several Vocaloids, and there will be events where fans will have the opportunity to meet these "real Vocaloids".^[31]
  • No news on this group have been mentioned since their intial release and they have been moved into this section until further announcements confirm they are still in progress.
• Kitano Kamui : Kamui Kitano is currently under a campaign to rally support for her If 30,000+ users register for her facebook account within 6 months she will debute as a singer. There is some doubt due to the date of her first appearance being April 1st, the manner of the twitter and its running. There is also no incidation of her being a vocaloid, though Japanese -> English translations state otherwise. Announcement will come at 15,000 supporters.

Fakes/JokesEdit

• Kasane Teto - She was an April Fool's Day joke, made out by the perpetrators to be a new Crypton Future Media vocaloid.  The legacy of this prank continued on for years after its original run and even in 2013 some still believe she is a Vocaloid.  Some time after the joke, a utau voicebank for her was created.
• On April 1st 2012, VocaTone announced that "James" would be made into a Vocaloid, however, this was an April Fools day joke.^[32]
• Another April Fools' day joke in 2012 was "Animaloid", which turned out to be also a hint about the upcoming Mayu Vocaloid.
• Ange Wayne - a fake Vocaloid who was spammed over many websites (mainly English speaking ones) for over a month including (but not restricted to) Yahoo answers, Youtube, the Vocaloid wikia and Vocaloid Otaku forums. A website was also produced for Ange Wayne.^[33]
• Rune - a vocaloid who was introduced in much the same manner as Ange Wayne, it has been deemed fake until proven otherwise for its manner it was introduced in. A fake "Vocaloid 3" logo is found on thevideo also a twitter and facebook where made refealing poor quality art work and the company behind it "AudX" does not appear to exist.
• Ion-Nation - appeared in late 2012, boasting a group of male vocaloids. They made several videos and claimed to be part of "VocaTonf and PowerFK".
