this song's about a mixture of this intense childhood fear I had - well, not really a fear, but this sickening dread? I abhorred the thought that I would somehow start to become mutated and disfigured - not really in a medically possible way, but in a monstrous way. I would isolate myself and completely shut down sometimes because of it. I kinda feel like it was how my symptoms of BDD manifested themselves in my childhood, since I still definitely deal with that same disgust-dread feeling that makes me isolate myself and shut down - it's just over my appearance in general, though, of course I know I'm not gonna start mutating for no reason :'^)
"The Abnormality" is an original song by by Ghost. It is their first work featuring AVANNA.
Due to the fact that there was minor nudity in the original PV, it was tagged as 18+ by YouTube. Ghost tried to file an appeal to YT but was immediately shut down. This upset them even further because they have other songs with much more sensitive material and of all the songs, this one was flagged because it featured a female character who was topless. YouTube even censored the thumbnail of the original video. In retaliation, they uploaded a "Family-Friendly" version of the PV filled with memes and sarcasm. Although they weren't too happy with the end result of the original song, they wanted to keep it up because so many people have liked it. In the end, they uploaded the song with a new PV where the characters are clothed and uploaded the original video to Google Drive (here).
