  • Honestly, I really don't. It all seems too secretive, too soon, and kinda fishy... Who started this project anyways?

    • . You should probably ask Mistery who started it. She was the one who pointed her out on the status page >_< I kinda like her she has a pretty design ^-^

    • I have no objections to this kind of thing, so long as we have PowerFX's side of the story its fine.  If not you need to find it  .

If this is a legit project I'm all for it, because I'm tired of certain things about the vocaloid fandom... Like petitions... The unbalanced and bias way fans favour huge chunks of the franchise based on lanaguge alone.... And finally acknowlewdgement on what it takes to make a vocaloid instead of "I wanna make a vocaloid!" all the time from random fans... :-/

    • The whole email that said that PFX wouldn't mind making a VOCALOID for fans if fans ran a kickstarter to raise enough money for it went around for a while -- this is where this whole thing started.

A lot of people jumped on the opportunity to create their own VOCALOID, but the Rose group probably finished first (and I know who's in it and I've talked to them, but I'm probably not allowed to say since they removed their info from the site until they're ready to go live). They posted screenshot evidence of PFX's email responses to them and the emails were positive, so they'll probably start the kickstarter when PFX gives them the OK to do so.

    • I think a crowdfunded project is a good idea, there's nothing wrong with being doubtful/not getting your hopes up though, as far as I know PowerFX were in contact with them and were willing to work together. As long as the person doesn't take the money and run, but I'm sure PowerFX would take legal action over that. The art looks pretty pro, and there have been designs/voices chosen from contests before so it's not like it's impossible to succeed.

I think it was a guy named Ross. But anyways we'll just have to wait and see, and hopefully no one wastes their money if it doesn't work out (though as far as I know, if you don't meet the goal the money isn't actually pledged or whatever [usually I see kickstarter projects end up finishing with like 10k more than they need so if this one does get extra money they can invest it into upgrading their other voice banks or saving it for the next project])

    • Oh, Ross actually has nothing to do with Rose. It's not him heading this. ;;

I can second this. He has no connection to Rose.

    • The reason you probably think it's secretive is because the group didn't actually intend to make an official announcement yet, a VO member just happened to run into their WIP website, haha. They probably want to get the okay from PowerFX before releasing info.

    • Aha wow, two projects from PowerFX, sounds promising (I think Ross's project might be a male vocaloid, b/c I know the survey/poll was posted to tumblr and they constantly demand more male vocals), hopefully both will be a success then

    • I'm curious about her.

If successful, there can be another addition to the VOCALOID development page about companies sponsoring voice bank creation.

I kinda figured that because Alphonse seemed to act almost jealous at PowerFX's approval of a Kickstarter when Ross emailed them.

Anyways, I'm willing to support the project, but only when I can hear a demo of her voicer. It would be nice to hear a higher female, as that is currently something we don't have right now. We have three mid-to-low females, two which are work in progress, but nonetheless, standing out is a good business strategy. Also, if I might add.... a contest might help with finding a voice, but if you take the utaite route, avoid people who use autotuning as it can make it hard to determine the quality of their voice.

    • Well at least PowerFX is willing to work with both of them and not going like, "we'll work with whoever gets the most money/their kickstarter fully funded first" (although that'd seem like something out of a movie ;; [I know Juby and a few other youtaite have done voice acting work before, so it'd be cool for a voicer like that])

    • The voice provider has been chosen; and as far as I know Alphonse, while part of the team, did not start it off. (That is if my memory serves me correctly, I remember seeing folks discussing a Kickstarter and considering inviting Alphonse to join them, so take it with a pinch of salt)

Anyway, I hope we get another good Engloid out of this. :D I'm tempted to support myself, even though I do not buy Vocaloids.

A popular youtaite is a bad idea. People will be able to figure out the voicer in a heartbeat, and that can cause issues. Finding someone that has a the voice they want without the need of autotune and other effects would be a good idea.

    • I wouldn't put it past PowerFX to do both vocaloids if the money is put forward.

To be fair, most wouldn't have heard of PowerFX here on the wikia without it... And they've always been supportive of it. Their just limited on funds so can't do everything they want to at this stage. So naturally if the fans raise the money, you can see them doing what the fans want. Means less burden on their shoulders.

Reminds me of the time the sci-fi channel (when it was called that) agreed to fund more Star Trek stuff when the fans raised a certain amount. they didn't reach the target but Sci-fi still went ahead with the project. That was the days before kickstarter... Makes me wish I could remmeber what Star Trek thing it was related to though. Its lost in my mind to the span of time... >_<
