  • This is inspired by the following songs SILENCE and Snowdrops, and prior to that two notices from Nico producers that resulted in NoNeedforCosplay's channel to be shut down (it had a lot of old English Vocaloid songs). Anyway, I wanted to create a notice for the page that would indicate that the following song shouldn't be reprinted on any other media site or consequences will follow.

The template is, NoReprint, and the songs are sorted into Songs with reprint conditions. The template has an extra parameter to make additional comments, such as: if authorized permission has been granted for reprinting to a specific person.

    • Doesn't Rerulili not permit reprints?

    • Maybe we should create Vocaloid Wiki Project for this. As I have contacts with a few Japanese Producers, I may request some help.

Probably we're going to need Damesuke-kun's help for create an article with a format similar to his Translation guideline.

    • That is an obviously good choice.

We had the FAQ thing here (before it was moved to Answer wiki) about songs and copyright. It explained the basics of why song reprinting doesn't mean the author of the song allows their work to be distributed. And since many producers have signed to record companies the reprinting has been a tricky process; at least you get a few people who properly set their description with the "Reprinted from Nico", notice.

    • Ok, how should we begin to organize this? I was thinking recycle some elements of the Vocaloid Fans Communication Assistance.

By now I've thought in the following sections:

      • Introduction
      • About Copyright
        • Plagiarism
        • Reprint (By the moment, I don't remember any other topics we could mention in this section)
      • Guide for solicitors
        • Contact Templates (a series of letter templates for request authorization or usege to the authors/copyright holders)
      • Guide for authors (include a version in Japanese)
      • Authors list
        • Licences, Labels, Contact, Disclaimers and Terms of Usage

    • By any chance, does this mean that I can't upload an MMD video featuring certain songs?  For example, I'm working on an MMD video featuring the song "LUVORATORRRRRY!", but I caught a message on the page here saying that reprint is forbidden....so then, does that mean I can't upload the video?

As the template states it might be best to get authorized permission from the author of the song. However, I believe most situations about reprints are about people uploading the official version to their own channel. So I'm sure you can upload a cover or a MMD video as long as it doesn't involve using the content of the official video, which has been uploaded to the authors channel.

For example the song/PV, "SILENCE", has been reported and removed numerous times. But a PV on Nico and various covers on YouTube remain. So it isn't these formats the author has an issue with it is the official video that is the problem.

I can detail the template a bit more to dispel some confusion. I've edited the template to state "Official song / pv", which is usually the biggest concern.

    • Yeah. What Bunai is talking about is usually considred as "derived work" or "secondary usage", which in many cases the authors are against it. Indeed, many of them are flattered to see their works likes the enough to inspire PVs, remixes or other kind of fan content.

However, this varies a lot among the authors.

    • Oh yeah. Should there be separate page about copyright or just adding it to the song guidelines, which are longer than it already needs to be.

    • As I said before, it's evident we need to create a Wiki Project similar to the Translation Guide done by Damesukekun.

There's a lot to discuss about the matter, and include that discussion into the Song article guideline only will make the format more complex, and that isn't the idea

Thanks for the response.  I'm aware that people often upload videos from Nico onto YouTube, but I'm not one of them.  To me that's like taking one's video and uploading it from your own account, which can be interpreted as "Oh, this is MY video," which can always lead to a messy circumstance.

The MMD vid I'm working on features three characters from Attack on Titan, though, so for some this may feel a bit weird.  But I fail to see what harm I'm causing, all things considered.
