Today being my birthday my mom, of course, decided to throw me a party. I love her dearly and she means well, but I didn't want a party. Actually I was planning on going out and celebrating with friends rather than family. I'm a little old for the party thing, and what's more is that they stopped being fun around 6 years back or so.
Anyways despite my not wanting the event to happen, it did. It tuns out coming down from college for the last few weeks of the summer was a good idea after all. It gave me a chance to see my older brother who, as I said in a previous blog post, recently moved out. I haven't really had a chance to talk with him much since then what with my being 4 hours away, so it was good to see him. Of course it was also nice to see the rest of the family, but that's beside the point.
As the evening went on there were the typical ups and downs that I've come to expect from these parties. However, the highlight of the whole thing was when my uncle and brother brought out the guitars. This meant it was time for the "family sing-along" as I like to call it. It's always interesting as nobody knows the lyrics to the majority of the songs they play so we all end up screwing up and ad-lib the lyrics to cover up the mistakes. Now usually I don't join in as the music they play isn't to my liking, but I decided to put that aside and join in for once. It turned out to be a lot of fun which I wasn't expecting at all. Like I said, nobody knew the words half the time, but the ad-libbing was really fun. We had a lot of laughs and the whole thing turned out being really fun. ^_^
