This article is the guideline for all series pages on the Vocaloid Wiki. There are hundreds of Vocaloid song series that don't have articles here yet; for a list of some of the more notable ones please see Song pages of priority. Everyone is encouraged to create new song articles, but be sure to familiarize yourself with this page first!

Blank song pages with nothing in them or those that don't follow the layout policy will be marked as spam unless a {{MusicSeriesWIP}} sign is present and users are working to develop the article. The option of sandboxing the article is encouraged until you feel the page meets the standards. Please put some effort into making new song series pages; make it more than just an image with a song template.

Template / LayoutEdit

Here's the basic structure of a series page. Feel free to copy and paste it if you're building a new article.

Notice that a series layout can be altered to suit the content the series provides. This is just the standard layout for most.

|character =
|producer = [[]] (music, etc)<br>[[]] (etc)
|seriestitle = "'''タイトル'''"<br>Romaji: Romanization<br>English: Translation
|uploaddate = Month X, 20XX
|image =
|color = #; color:# }}

About song titlesEdit

This section is a work in progress. Currently song series pages are outdated and follow an English format. This is subject to change depending on the community views and ease of finding the works by title.

About the Song boxEdit

The {{Series box}} is a customizable template that condenses and summarizes the basic information of the series.

{{Series box
|singer = [[]]
|character =
|producer = [[]] (music, etc)<br>[[]] (etc)
|seriestitle = "'''タイトル'''"<br>Romaji: Romanization<br>English: Translation
|uploaddate = Month X, 20XX
|image =
|color = #; color:# }}
  • singer (necessary): The "singer" section is where you should put the VOCALOIDs/Singers (or performer, as is appropriate, for example a Piano version)
    • OPTIONAL: Other singers involved (not the main singer) e.g. Choir, talkloid, etc.
  • character
  • producer (necessary): The composer of the songs. The necessary ones are: composer, lyricist, and illustrators.
  • seriestitle (necessary): The original title of the song.
    • OPTIONAL: If the title is in Japanese, put the Romaji and English titles there as well.)
  • uploaddate, hidden behind the #if parser. It is meant to present Upload date of a video or conceptualization, the earliest is preferred. If upload date is inapplicable then place none and the entire bar will disappear.
  • image (optional): The "image" section is where you should put your image in. Simply upload a photo / image representation of the series here.
  • color (optional): The color of: Singer, title, producer, and links. See the Color Guide page for help.
    • OPTIONAL: Match the color in the series box, with the derivative box.

About the BackgroundEdit

Background provides information about the song that is more in depth than goes in the song box. Some things that can be talked about:

  • Producer / author's comments (source: In the comment / video description of the video, or the author's mylist comment)
  • Nico Nico Weekly Ranking records
  • The plot to the song. If it's a series, a link to the series is encouraged.
  • Musical genre, instruments mainly used, song tempo, mood
  • Information about the PV
  • Controversies / issues regarding the song
  • A link to the VOCALOID singing the song's "songs featuring page" (if the song is in the page)

These points are mainly guides; and are all optional. If there's any other information that you consider relevant, it can be added here.

Please remember to be objective; don't state personal opinions within the article. (For instance, don't say "This is a wonderful song" or "This is a horrible cover.") Keep opinions in the comments.

QuotesEdit

It is common, and often beneficial, to include a direct quote in a song article via the {{Cquote}} template. Please only quote persons who directly participated in the creative process surrounding the song, particularly the producer, lyricist, or illustrator. Please also provide the source of the quote (normally the video upload or the author's blog/website); this can be done either via the template's source parameter or with a <ref> tag. Lastly, please keep the quote reasonably short, normally four lines or under. If more space needed, it is probably a better idea to paraphrase the information and put it in another area of the Background section.

About Song listingsEdit

The {{Infobox song}} template that condenses and summarizes the basic information of the song. This groups the songs together under one section and are to follow chronological order by upload or depending on the choice of the producer(s).

{{Infobox song
|nnd_id = |yt_id =
|composer = |lyricist =
|overallPVwork = |illustrator = |videoeditor =
|vocaloid =
|description =
|uploaddate = |title1 =
|icon = |thumb = }}
  • link (necessary): The links to the original video. If an author in Niconico also publishes his/her works in YouTube, please link the video to YouTube, and not the reprint. When used, the link appears directly below the song box and above the mentioned optional broadcast parameters.
  • vocaloid (necessary): The "singer" section is where you should put the VOCALOIDs/Singers (or performer, as is appropriate, for example a Piano version)
    • OPTIONAL: Other singers involved (not the main singer) e.g. Choir, talkloid, etc.
  • producers (necessary): The composer of the songs. The necessary ones are: composer, lyricist, and illustrators.
  • title1 or title2 (necessary): The original title of the song. Take note that the parameter for title depends on a song page existing. If a song page exists use title1, if it doesn't exist use title2.
    • OPTIONAL: If the title is in Japanese, put the Romaji and English titles there as well.)
  • uploaddate, It is meant to present Upload date and View count of the video.
  • icon (optional): The "image" section is where you should put your image in. Simply upload a photo / image representation of the song here. Note that the thumbnail will display an icon image by default.
  • description (pending): The description depends on how much factual information was provided about a specific song in the series. Commonly this is a small summary or description of the video. Another would be the interpretation of the lyrical content, the video, or its purpose within the series.

Additional informationEdit

This is header that can contain option sub-headers depending on how extensive the series' background is.

About Character profilesEdit

This is an area to list any original characters that are featured in the series. Please seek official profile information and also images if possible.

Only use this set-up if status are official. Note that this a basic set up and it can be edited or rearranged to the editors choosing, just remember to be consistent.

<small>'''Birthday:'''  / '''Blood type:''' / '''Height:'''  / '''Weight:''' / '''Voiced by:''' </small>

About DiscographyEdit

  • Album listings
  • Album-exclusive derivatives (just mention them, don't link to illegal reprints)

About Other media appearancesEdit

This is the place for listing (in prose form) a song's concert appearances and appearances in/as any novels, manga, sheet music collections, plays, etc.

Do not include offsite links to concert videos, as they are highly prone to deletion for copyright infringement. Additionally, please do not use the Derivatives template in this section.

About TriviaEdit

Although they are present on some pages, Trivia sections are discouraged. Most of the time their information can be included in the background section. There are special cases, however, where a Trivia section is necessary, such as "ダブルラリアット (Double Lariat)".

About the GalleryEdit

You can use the following template {{Gallery}} or <gallery>file</gallery>

This section is for displaying relevant images related to the song. Notice that fanart is forbidden in this section, whether if it's related to the song or not (the image must be official or have some degree of validity). Some valid options for this sections are:

  • Promotional artwork or images done by the persons who participated in the song.
  • If the song is featured anywhere in a Project Diva game, the modules for the song.
  • If the song is featured anywhere in a concert, the concert costumes.
  • If the illustrator of the song has made any work / doujinshi, a cover of the song.
  • If the song has related merchandising like figurines.
  • If the song has images related to the previous cases, like the concept arts that inspired a particular Project Diva's module, or a image that inspired a particular figurine.

Remember, these points are mainly guides; and are all optional.

About the External linksEdit

The External links section lists relevant links to the song. Try to keep the links as simple as possible; see Wikipedia:External links#External links section.

Similar to the song articles, external links section can have any or all of four possible sections: Official, Articles, Lyrics, and Downloads.

{{External/Official}}
*[<LINK> Link name]
*[<LINK> Link name]

{{External/Article}}
*[<LINK> Link name]
*[<LINK> Link name]

{{External/Lyrics}}
*[<LINK> Link name]
*[<LINK> Link name]

{{External/Downloads}}
*[<LINK> Link name]
*[<LINK> Link name]
  • Official is for links to the song's website or webpage, relevant entries from author's blog, official uploads of illustrations used in the video (normally on Pixiv or deviantArt), and the like.
  • Lyrics is for song lyric webpages. These are often on translators' or romaji converters' blogs, although AnimeLyrics stands out as having many lyric entries for many Vocaloid songs.
  • Downloads is for links to off-vocals, karaoke versions, sheet music, and whatnot. Official MP3 downloads may also be listed here, but ABSOLUTELY NO linking to illegal MP3 downloads is permitted. If a song was released as a single, you can link to purchase sites in this section, but don't link to purchase sites for entire albums.

CategorizingEdit

All song pages must be in a category.

These are the primarily used categories.

[[Category:Song series]]

Here are some other categories that certain song articles may be eligible for.

[[Category:Name of Song series]]

Notice, do not create sub-categories for song series that do not have a sufficient amount of songs to go in said category. While the number of songs needed can be discussed, do realize that most series have 1 to 5 songs. This amount is not a fitting requirement for solo sub-category.
