Yuzuki Yukari VOCALOID3 VOICEROID+ VOCALOID4

This is an article about the Yuzuki Yukari software for the VOCALOID3 engine.

HistoryEdit

At the VOCALOID3 announcements, Vocalomakets was said to be working on VOCALOIDs, with a variety of different results. In late November 2011, the first of these VOCALOIDs were revealed, as it was Yuzuki Yukari.[1] Yukari was released on December 22, 2011.[2]

Mac updateEdit

In late November 2013, news on a updated version was released which contained both a Windows and Mac version of her software that was due for release on the 19th of December 2013. The Software was released in 3 new packages. The first was a normal vocal plug-ion with the "lite" version of VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID NEO. The second was of Yukari with the full editors included, plus exVoice.[3] The third version was of Yukari with Music Maker MX 2 a Windows based DAW.[4]

VOICEROID+Edit

AH-Software released Yukari as a VOICEROID+ voicebank. She is the first VOCALOID to be released in both formats from AH-Software and the second VOCALOID to have a spoken version, with Gachapoid being the first via V-Talk. VOCALOID allows several tones of vocals that show different emotions. However, it is intended for singing rather than speech. On the other hand, VOICEROID offers the chance for users to make rap songs easier, or using her VOICEROID in conjunction with her VOCALOID voicebank, allowing her to "speak" during songs.

In 2015, most of the Voiceroid and Voiceroid+ vocals were upgraded to Voiceroid+ ex, Yukari included.[5]

exVoiceEdit

ExVoice contains additional samples for Yukari, some of which include laughter, giggling, and weeping. The software has also been updated to add more samples to the package. Users can log onto the AH-Software website to retrieve the additional samples if they own the older version. More updates on this extension are planned in the future.

Package details
Yukari was a VOCALOID designed to have multiple methods of using her voice by utilizing various other pieces of supporting vocal software such as VOICEROID. Since Vocalmakets were producers themselves they were able to construct an idea of what other producers wanted for VOCALOIDs, hence, she was made with producers in mind. She works best with the music genre jazz.

Her voice is intended to be firm and yet beautiful with a rich finish and is the voice of a adult female. Her voiceis intended to make her ideal for Jazz and low tempo songs.

A Voiceroid voicebank was also released to go with this voice.

Vocal traits as noted:
  • Her vocal trait combination is not present in most traditional vocals released for VOCALOID, allowing her to do certain genres of music genres easier than any other VOCALOID for the same purpose.
  • According to those who worked on her she is good at slow ballads and sings "full of feeling". This is due to the looseness of her pronunciations, adding much expressive qualities to the voice and allowing the tone of the note to linger in the air for longer.
  • Yukari's breathy tone is unable to hold long notes properly without fading out.
  • Due to her breathy sounding voice, she also cannot successfully perform intense vibrato or pitch on longer notes.
  • At a lowest optimum range of #D2 kokone, V3 Lily, Hatsune Miku V3 vocals Dark and solid as well as Yuzuki Yukari all jointly hold the title of "lowest Japanese female" optimum range between them. They are beaten as overall lowest female by Clara at #C2.
  • AT 120BPM, Yukari 's fastest tempo speed is the slowest any VOCALOID3 vocal. In fact, due to her low BPM, she is not recommended for fast paced songs at all.
Cross-Synthesis notes:

This vocal will register for XSY once imported into VOCALOID4. However this is a single release voicebank and there are no additional vocals included for her to utilize this function, requiring the user to purchase further vocals from the XSY group "AHS".

  • From Ver.4.3.0 of the Vocaloid engine onwards, a XSY group "AHS" was added to Vocaloid. All vocals within the "AHS" group can XSY with each other. This vocal release is part of this group. If a User owns one or more vocal releases within the "AHS" group, XSY between them will open up.[6][7]
    • The group has 8 characters within it that can XSY; Yuzuki Yukari, Macne Nana, Macne Petit, Tohoku Zunko, Hiyama Kiyoteru, Nekomura Iroha, SF-A2 miki and Kizuna Akari.
    • The "AHS" is currently the second largest XSY group within Vocaloid, having a total of 14 voicebanks that can XSY with each other. If old versions that have since been re-released are removed, there are currently 12 unique voicebanks. These are; "Yuzuki Yunki Jun", "Yuzuki Yukari Onn", "Yuzuki Yukari Lin", "SF-A2 miki", "Tohoku Zunko", "Macne Nana","Macne Petit", "Kitzuna Akari", "Hiyama Kiyoteru natural", "Hiyama Kiyoteru Rock", "Nekomura Iroha natural" and "Nekomura Iroha soft".
    • In total if user was to own every VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID4 Ah software vocal within the "AHS" group, this offers the equivalent of 182 additional voicebanks achievable via XSY. The total tone variation offered by the combined packages comes to a theoretical 196 voicebanks in total.
  • Note that also "GWL" does not become viable for use with any V3 vocals used as the primarily vocal. This should be considered when using any vocal for XSY within the "AHS" group from V3.
  • Also note that the updated vocals that brought a Vocaloid from VOCALOID3 into VOCALOID4 provided few differences, aside from adding GWL. Therefore these updates can provide little difference when used for XSY.

Phonetic notes as noted:
  • For the use of the "h" phoneme or dynamics, editing may need to be performed.
Software issues as noted:
  • Since the VOCALOID4 vocal "Jun" is a recreation of this vocal for XSY purposes, this particular vocal will not offer much difference in impact than Jun does on "ONN" and "LIN". In turn, it has little impact on "JUN" itself when used for XSY compared to "ONN" or "LIN". Furthermore, it can produce slightly lower quality results than JUN overall.
